Will my pictures get bigger after embedding Image.InfoCards data?
There is an increase to the file size when adding data, but this increase is minimal. A typical image with the regular four cards gets an average increase between 0.2Kb and 1Kb. If we consider that an image is normally between 30Kb and 150Kb, it accounts for less than a 1% increase.
If I add Image.InfoCards data to my website images, will they become unusable?
No. Image.InfoCards are "transparent", which means that all images will continue to behave and to be used exactly as before! Apart for the small size increase (around 1%), nothing else changes!
Will my site load slower if it contains Image.InfoCards-enhanced pictures?
Average file size increase is around 1% or less, so it means your site could load 1% slower. For instance, if your page normally takes 10 seconds to load, it will start to take 10.1 seconds to load, which is insignificant. Therefore, page load time performance remains largely unaffected.
Are Image.InfoCards only useful for the Internet?
Image.InfoCards is a general-purpose protocol. Anywhere there is a need to link information with a picture, there is a need to use Image.InfoCards! You can use it for your personal or professional applications: From creative (photography) to scientific (medical), there is always a use for Image.InfoCards.
Which image formats are supported?
As of version 2.0, the popular JPEG, GIF and PNG are supported. Developments are being made for next versions that will support TIFF format also. Other formats are under study.
